Protest

There was a protest in Orléans this morning.

As far as I can gather, there are moves afoot to centralise the the role of Customs in autonomous regions, and this protest is a move to stop it. The flyer handed to me as I walked through the group of noisy protesters states 'Votre sécurité est menacée! Les bureaux de Douanes sur 6 supprimés". Then three places are named: Blois, Chatres and Chateauroux.

I'll be back at St; Marceau this afternoon with Alec for some more tuning - the change in weather appears to affect the vox humana particularly, and it seems we'll finish the recording tonight. (In fact, we finished the recording the next morning.)

Il pleut

I really don't mind the rain - it even gives me the chance to interact in French with the lady in the umbrella shop! The, having spent so much on the latest sprung-opening gadgetry, it is only right that the continuing rain gives me so many opportunities to use the thing!

Olivier Latry (from Notre-Dame in Paris) and Marie-Claire Alain are two famous organists of whom there are pictures in the organ loft from the times they gave recitals on the Aubertain organ at St. Marceau.

Le Tartuffe ou l'Imposteur

It is Sunday morning here and raining gently.

Last night we went to see the comédie by Molière, 'La Tartuffe ou l'Imposteur' - this is one his most famous plays apparently, so it was good to see - a big theatre, and nearly full.

This is St. Marceau where we are recording.

This afternoon, Alec and I did some work on the tuning of the vox humana, a stop which featured in one of the works recorded tonight.
